Make the Journey Worth It — Even If You Don't Reach the Goal.

What if it doesn't work out? Who do you want to have become?

Disappointment can be real and the journey can still be worth it.

Editorial takeaway

  • Make the journey worth it — even if you don't reach the goal.

My experience

What if it doesn't work out? Who do you want to have become by then?

Sensitive passage — awaiting final author approval

The 1% opportunity gave me a reason to invest in myself again. But I understood that even extraordinary effort could not guarantee another Olympic selection.

The question became: what if I pursued this opportunity with everything I reasonably could and still did not reach the original goal? Could the journey itself help me build something meaningful?

This connected directly to my New 100%. The development of skills, health, emotional maturity, meaningful relationships, new interests and a broader identity could remain valuable regardless of the sporting outcome.

That does not erase real disappointment. An unsuccessful pursuit does not automatically become a beautiful experience or a hidden victory.

Based on what I myself told in coaching conversations (2023–2025), editorially summarized. Source: Author's supplied material (47-principle masterprompt).
